The Mongolian new Parliament
The first session of the new parliament took place on Monday, July 26. 74 members of parliament, as approved by the final results released by the General Election Commission /GEC/ took their oath. The Mongolian parliament election was held on June 27. According to the Law of parliament, in total 76 members must be elected in the parliament. However, at the present in total 74 new members, including 36 from Mongolian People Revolution Party /MPRP/, 34 from the Motherland-Democracy coalition /MDC/, one from the Republican party /RP/ and three independent candidates took their oaths for the term 2004-2008. The GEC has still not officially informed the President about the results of the election in 2 constituencies. MPRP and MDC have yet discussed to reach success on negotiating the appointment of the Cabinet and parliament bodies.
New appointments of the ERA
On January 5, 2004 the Prime Minister of Mongolia appointed Tsevegmidiin Tumentsogt as a Regulator (Chairman) of the ERA, Mongolia by his Decree #1. Previously, Mr. Tumentsogt served as the senior specialist of the Fuel and Energy Department, Ministry of Infrastructure. On 29 June this year, Mujaanii Ganchimeg was appointed as a Head of Tariff and Price department of the ERA by Decision #36 of Regulatory Board. Ms. Ganchimeg worked as a specialist of the department.
