Summary
  • Established in 1996, 94 staff members
  • Mr. Guram Chalagashvili was appointed as Chairman on August 30, 2007. The President appoints three Commissioners: Chairman and Commissioners for six year term. The term can be extended once for 6 years.
  • The GNERC establishes prices for imports and exports, wholesale, retail, distribution tariffs for electricity and natural gas, issues licenses, promotes privatization and the operation of the wholesale electricity market; settles disputes between the licensees and the customers.
  • The GNERC is financed through regulatory fees.

  • UDC (United Distribution Company) and 6 HPP were privatized by Czech company Energo Pro Georgia.
